New Court of Appeal Opens in Taroudant, Morocco

A new Court of Appeal has been inaugurated in Taroudant, Morocco, a development celebrated by local officials as a significant step towards improving judicial accessibility. The establishment of this court follows recent royal appointments of judicial officials, signaling a commitment to strengthening the justice system in the region.

Abdel Latif Wahbi, the Minister of Justice and President of the Taroudant City Council, expressed gratitude to King Mohammed VI for the appointments and the attention given to the historic city, which he stated is in dire need of enhanced judicial infrastructure. "The establishment of the Court of Appeal in Taroudant is a practical embodiment of the principle of bringing justice closer to citizens," Wahbi told Hespress. He added that it will alleviate the burden on lawyers and litigants from Taroudant, Talouine, Ouled Teima, and other surrounding areas who previously had to travel to Agadir for appeals.

The establishment of the Court of Appeal in Taroudant is a practical embodiment of the principle of bringing justice closer to citizens.

The new Court of Appeal is slated to officially commence operations immediately after the judicial holiday in August. The facility is equipped with two courtrooms, 51 offices for judicial officials and staff, and nine waiting rooms. It will occupy the current location of the Court of First Instance, as the latter and the Family Judiciary section are set to move to a new building.

Further enhancing the court's capabilities, the new premises will also house a lawyers' office, reception areas, a sales room, two training rooms, a meeting hall, a storage area, a nursery, and detention spaces. This comprehensive setup aims to streamline judicial processes and provide a more efficient environment for all parties involved.
