New lakeside path at Chengcing Lake improves accessibility

Kaohsiung's ongoing efforts to improve the recreational environment around Chengcing Lake have culminated in the completion of a new pedestrian path along Wenqian Road. This project enhances the scenic lake's accessibility and provides a safer, more pleasant experience for walkers and joggers.

The new 1.4-kilometer path, constructed with durable and aesthetically pleasing materials, runs along the lakeside in the Niaosong District. It connects seamlessly with existing recreational routes, offering residents and visitors a dedicated space for leisurely strolls or exercise. Previously, pedestrians had to walk along the roadside, posing safety concerns.

Yang Chin-fu, Director of Kaohsiung's Public Works Bureau, highlighted the project's significance. "Since taking over the Chengcing Lake scenic area and establishing the Kaohsiung Fruit Golf Natural Park, the city government has continuously promoted improvements to the transit environment from the inside out," he stated. The bureau, in collaboration with the Transportation Bureau, Parks Department, and the Water Corporation, worked to create this improved pedestrian infrastructure.

Residents have welcomed the new path. Mr. Li, a local resident who frequently exercises at Chengcing Lake, shared his satisfaction: "The pedestrian path is now bright and safe. It feels more comfortable to stop and rest by the lake in the evening." The path features safety railings and improved road surfaces, ensuring a secure passage.

Wenqian Road is not only a key route for accessing Chengcing Lake's attractions, including the "Three Pavilions Viewing" scenic spot, but also a vital artery for residents of Niaosong and Renwu districts. The completion of this path is part of a larger initiative to create a comprehensive lakeside network, further integrating the natural beauty of Chengcing Lake with the urban landscape.
