Taiwanese Hokkien singer Zhong Qi, known for her bilingual music and outspoken views, recently experienced a humorous misunderstanding at a clinic. While visiting a doctor for the first time, Zhong Qi, who primarily resides in Canada, found the physician repeatedly asking in Mandarin if she understood him, using phrases like "Do you get what I mean?"

Zhong Qi, accustomed to speaking Taiwanese Hokkien, responded affirmatively throughout the consultation. However, she inwardly questioned why the doctor seemed so concerned about her comprehension, wondering if she appeared unable to understand basic Chinese.

The situation reached a comical peak when the doctor, with apparent sincerity, directly asked Zhong Qi if she understood Mandarin. It was then revealed that the doctor's persistent checks were due to Zhong Qi consistently speaking Taiwanese Hokkien from the moment she entered the examination room.
