New party Unia Centrum launches with focus on strong center politics

A new political force, Unia Centrum (Center Union), has emerged on Poland's political scene, officially announced on Sunday. The party's leadership falls to Paulina Hennig-Kloska, the current Minister of Climate and Environment, who stated the party's mission is to build a "strong, modern, and responsible center" within the country's political landscape.

Hennig-Kloska emphasized that Unia Centrum intends to serve as a robust foundation for the "coalition of October 15," the current governing alliance. She described the party's core philosophy as a space where individuals converge to forge the best compromises, aiming to create a stable political environment for those seeking responsible governance, a robust economy, and modernized public services.

The party's foundational program pillars include fostering a strong and competitive economy, supporting entrepreneurship, and creating well-paid, stable jobs. It also prioritizes a responsible energy transition, strengthening local self-government, ensuring national and citizen security, and reinforcing Poland's standing within the European Union.

Unia Centrum has adopted blue and green as its official colors. Hennig-Kloska explained that blue symbolizes freedom, entrepreneurship, modernity, and a strong economy, while green represents environmental responsibility, clean air, energy security, and concern for future generations. The party plans to unveil its detailed program directions at its first Program Convention scheduled for September. The formation of Unia Centrum follows a split within the Polska 2050 party earlier this year, leading to the establishment of the parliamentary club Centrum.
