New plan to fix roads, water and island services

Fiji's government is launching a new plan to improve coordination among agencies, aiming to speed up infrastructure projects and strengthen essential services for rural and maritime communities. The initiative seeks to streamline development and ensure better service delivery across the islands.

The Office of the Divisional Commissioner, Eastern, and the Office of the Divisional Engineer, Central/Eastern, have already initiated discussions for the upcoming 2026–2027 financial year. These talks are crucial for planning and prioritizing projects that will benefit remote areas.

The plan's focus areas include critical infrastructure such as rural roads and water supply projects. It also encompasses alternative energy solutions and the enhancement of general government services, ensuring a comprehensive approach to development and community support.
