New Pokémon stop-motion series to premiere on Disney+ in 2027

Fans of the Pokémon franchise can anticipate a new stop-motion animated series, titled 'Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu,' which is slated for release on Disney+ in 2027. The announcement came from the official Pokémon franchise, coinciding with the first major fan convention, Pokémon XP, held in San Francisco.

During the convention, a first trailer for the series was unveiled. The preview showcased the main characters, Sirfetch’d and Pichu, traversing the wild landscapes of the Galar region. The trailer concluded with a visual cue, Sirfetch’d crashing into a sign that clearly indicated the 2027 release year.

According to the official synopsis, the series will follow the two heroes on an epic quest to aid and safeguard Pokémon throughout the region. While their missions may not always go as planned, their noble actions strengthen their bond as they bravely venture into the unknown. The synopsis promises a narrative filled with peril, alliances, rivalries, extraordinary Pokémon encounters, and abundant laughter.

This production was initially announced in June during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, signaling a growing commitment to diverse animation formats for the beloved franchise.
