New Signings Fire FC Copenhagen to a 5-0 Rout of OB

FC Copenhagen made light of a depleted squad and left top scorer Mohamed Elyounoussi on the bench as it overwhelmed OB 5-0 in Odense. Five new players started, and three of the club's summer arrivals found the net.

Thapelo Maseko seized his opportunity on the right wing with two goals and a strong overall display. After five minutes, the South African World Cup player cut inside and drove the ball into the far corner for 1-0.

OB came close to an equalizer after 15 minutes, when Noah Ganaus hit the inside of the post. Instead, Copenhagen extended its lead midway through the first half through center-back Asger Sørensen. Ganaus missed another good chance early in the second half after Christian Gammelgaard created the opening.

Thomas Delaney left injured after 58 minutes and was replaced by 16-year-old Marvin Nasnas. The teenager set up Maseko's second goal with 15 minutes remaining, then scored himself in the 82nd minute. Maher Carrizo, an Argentine on loan from Ajax, converted a late penalty to complete the rout.

The result left Copenhagen top with 18 points from seven matches. FC Midtjylland and FC Nordsjælland had 14 and 13 points respectively from one fewer game, while Brøndby could move into second place with a win over Randers.
