New Smartphone Subsidy Coming to Greece – Who Qualifies for a Voucher?

Greece is introducing a new subsidy program designed to bridge the digital divide by making smartphones more accessible. The initiative aims to empower citizens, especially those facing challenges in accessing digital services, by providing financial assistance for the purchase of specialized mobile devices.

The program is part of a national strategy to enhance digital accessibility and inclusion. It will offer vouchers to eligible individuals, primarily those with disabilities exceeding 67%, who require specific device features to engage equally with telecommunication services and everyday digital applications. The goal is to ensure that more citizens can benefit from the opportunities offered by the digital age.

Eligible participants can receive a voucher covering part of the cost for a specialized smartphone, with a maximum subsidy of up to 70 euros per device. The selection process will be streamlined through existing public registries and digital identification methods to minimize bureaucracy. The subsidy will be applied at the point of sale through partnered providers and businesses.

Mobile carriers will facilitate the distribution of these subsidized devices. Interested individuals will be informed about the exact start dates, available device models, and application procedures through official announcements from the relevant authorities and telecommunication companies.
