New Taipei Candidate Lee Shih-tsung Pledges Support for Industry, Economic Growth

New Taipei City mayoral candidate Lee Shih-tsung pledged to be a strong supporter of local industries and economic development during a dinner event hosted by the Ruifang Industrial and Commercial Association. Lee, representing the KMT, emphasized his commitment to the region's prosperity.

Future mayors will be the backing of the industry, working together to fight for the economic development of New Taipei.

Lee outlined his four-pillar industrial policy, which includes doubling industrial zones to address land shortages and encourage businesses to remain in New Taipei. He proposed a "rent-only" model for industrial zones, where the government would construct standard factory buildings and customized office spaces for companies. Additionally, he plans to promote the "3D industrial zone" upgrade, establish intermediate factories, and implement industrial upgrading programs to support traditional industries and high-tech development.

The government's role should be to remove obstacles and provide assistance when facing current industrial challenges.

Reflecting on his past experience in local government and national administration, Lee stressed a pragmatic approach to infrastructure and industrial park development. He aims to leverage this experience to further New Taipei's industrial growth. For Ruifang specifically, Lee suggested exploring the construction of a cable car from Ruifang train station to Jiufen to alleviate traffic congestion and parking difficulties. He also proposed developing tourism attractions using old mining tunnels in the Shuijinjiu area to draw more visitors.
