New Taipei Erzhong Black Team Dominates to Win National U15 Baseball Championship

New Taipei City's Erzhong Junior High School Black team clinched the championship title at the 2026 New Taipei Fubon National U15 Baseball Invitational Tournament, defeating Hualien Sanmin Junior High School with a decisive 7-0 victory in the final match. The tournament, held at the Sanchong Baseball Stadium, brought together 32 youth baseball powerhouses from across Taiwan and the Seoul team from South Korea, totaling over 640 players who competed over six days.

New Taipei City's Sports Bureau Director-General Hong Yu-ling emphasized the importance of baseball in cultivating perseverance, teamwork, and resilience. She encouraged athletes to value every opportunity on the field to gain experience and push their limits toward higher levels of play. The city actively supports baseball development through various programs, from summer camps and school clubs to city-wide tournaments and national invitational events for different age groups.

I hope every player can cherish every opportunity to step onto the field, accumulate experience in the competition, break through themselves, and move towards a higher baseball stage.

This year's tournament marked a significant step in international exchange, with the inclusion of the Seoul team from South Korea. This collaboration aimed to broaden the event's global perspective and enhance cultural ties between young baseball players from Taiwan and South Korea. The championship game saw Erzhong Black team dominate, securing the trophy and a prize package valued at NT$80,000 from Fubon Financial Holding.

Yu Sai-ya, a player from the champion Erzhong Black team, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP). He expressed his joy at achieving success with his teammates and his ambition to continue practicing and aim for higher-level competitions. The tournament also recognized outstanding individual performances, with Zhang Qun from Erzhong Black receiving the Best Pitcher award and coach Lin He earning the Best Coach award.
