New UK government's composition becoming clear

The new United Kingdom Prime Minister is reportedly initiating a significant reshuffle of the cabinet, aiming to replace loyalists of the previous administration led by Keir Starmer. This move signals a clear break from the past and an effort to consolidate the new leader's authority.

Among the high-profile figures reportedly shown the door are David Lammy, Rachel Reeves, and Steve Reed. Their departures suggest a strategic realignment of key positions within the government. J. Healey, who recently resigned as defense secretary due to disagreements over military funding, is described as a long-standing member of the Labour leadership, considered a reliable and safe choice.

In a late-night announcement, further changes were revealed. Wes Streeting is stepping in as the new defense secretary, taking over from Dan Jarvis. Additionally, Miatta Fahnbulleh, a close associate of A. Burnham, has been appointed energy secretary. Former foreign secretary Yvette Cooper will now serve as health secretary, while Pat McFadden remains in his post as work and pensions secretary.
