NFF Elective Congress Now to Hold Sept. 27

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has moved its Elective Congress, originally set for September 26 in Lafia, Nasarawa State, by one day to September 27. This adjustment is necessary to accommodate the Super Eagles' opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Madagascar on September 25.

NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau explained that the date change was requested due to the proximity of the crucial qualifier. Many candidates vying for positions on the NFF Executive Committee are expected to be involved with the national team's match, making it impossible for them to attend the congress the following morning.

An extraordinary general assembly of the NFF, held virtually, approved the proposal to reschedule. The congress will elect members to the NFF Executive Committee for a four-year term. The decision reflects a practical consideration to ensure broader participation from stakeholders involved in both the election and the national team's important continental fixture.
