Nguyễn Thanh Nhàn assigned as deputy secretary of Đồng Tháp provincial committee

Nguyễn Thanh Nhàn has been assigned to serve as deputy secretary of the Đồng Tháp Provincial Party Committee and is expected to take the province’s top administrative post.

The Party Central Committee Secretariat announced the decision on Sept. 7, appointing Nhàn to the committee’s 2025-2030 term. He is also expected to be introduced to the Đồng Tháp Provincial People’s Council for election as chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee for the 2026-2031 term.

Nhàn, 49, is from Phước Hòa in Ho Chi Minh City. He holds a civil engineering degree and a doctorate in economics. During his career, he held leadership positions in several localities, including secretary of the Hà Tiên Party Committee, chairman of Hà Tiên’s People’s Committee, chairman of the former Kiên Giang Provincial People’s Committee and chairman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Council.

Before moving to Đồng Tháp, Nhàn served as deputy secretary of the Party Committee for Central Party agencies. The leadership change follows the assignment of Phạm Thành Ngại, the former Đồng Tháp chairman, as deputy chief of the Government Inspectorate on Sept. 7.
