Nicaragua Denies Entry to Colombian Metal Band Gaias Pendulum

The Nicaraguan government has denied entry to the Colombian metal band Gaias Pendulum, preventing them from performing a scheduled concert in Managua on August 14, 2026. Organizers of the event and the band itself confirmed the decision, citing governmental and migratory reasons beyond the band's control.

"This decision is exclusively due to governmental and migratory reasons, completely outside the control of the group and its team," the band stated in a release. "Despite having our visas duly approved and a 60-day authorized stay in the country, we are not being allowed to enter Nicaragua." Gaias Pendulum emphasized that the situation was not artistic or contractual, but rather due to external circumstances for which they bear no responsibility.

The band received this information from the legal representative of SoNica Conciertos Nicaragua y C.A., the promoters of the show. Gaias Pendulum was set to perform at the "Nocturnia Nicaragua" event at a Managua bar and restaurant known for hosting the local metal community. The band highlighted their decade-long history of performing in Central America, building respectful relationships with audiences and institutions in various countries.

"This cancellation particularly pains us because it was our first visit to Managua, an encounter we had been anticipating for a long time with a Nicaraguan audience that wrote to us with enormous enthusiasm, and with whom we would share the stage" with other groups, the band added. Gaias Pendulum's visit to Nicaragua was part of a larger Central American tour that included Guatemala and El Salvador. SoNica Conciertos Nicaragua y C.A. is reportedly working on rescheduling the concert. The Nicaraguan government, through its Directorate of Migration and Foreign Affairs, has not yet provided an official explanation for denying the band entry.
