Niger Delta Youths Hail Tinubu, Shettima Over Idagbo's South-South Campaign Role

The Niger Delta Youth Assembly has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for appointing Rt. Hon. Ochiglegor Idagbo as the Zonal Coordinator for Support Group Coordination in the South-South region under the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council. The youth group described the appointment as both timely and strategic, emphasizing that Idagbo's deep experience in grassroots mobilization, governance, and legislative affairs will significantly bolster political coordination and mobilization efforts across the six South-South states.

Comrade Bedford Berefa Benjamin, the National Coordinator of the Niger Delta Youth Assembly, stated that Idagbo possesses decades of experience in grassroots politics and public administration. His career began as a student union leader, where he honed skills in mobilization, organization, and consensus-building. He later served as Secretary of Council and a two-term Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Area in Cross River State, followed by a role as Chairman of the Council of Chairmen for all 18 local government areas in the state. These positions provided him with extensive grassroots exposure and facilitated the building of relationships across various communities and political structures.

The group described the appointment as timely and strategic, saying Idagbo’s extensive experience in grassroots mobilisation, governance and legislative affairs would strengthen political coordination and mobilisation across the six South-South states.

Further highlighting Idagbo's qualifications, Benjamin noted his tenure as Commissioner for Works in Cross River State, which broadened his experience in governance, infrastructure development, administration, and project monitoring. His two terms in the House of Representatives equipped him with considerable legislative and national experience, including serving as Chairman of the House Committee on Local Content and Vice-Chairman of several other National Assembly committees. This background is considered a major advantage for his new assignment.

His years in the National Assembly gave him a deep understanding of the political, economic and developmental realities of the South-South region.

Benjamin expressed confidence that Idagbo's extensive network and understanding of the South-South region's political, economic, and developmental realities will enable him to effectively coordinate support groups and deepen mobilization for the APC and President Tinubu's political agenda. The assembly also commended the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Basse.
