Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service postpones recruitment shortlist

The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) has announced a postponement in the release of its recruitment shortlist, initially slated for Thursday, August 13. The agency cited the need for a comprehensive, transparent, and accurate selection process as the reason for the delay.

In a public notice signed by the Director of Human Resources, ACG Issaka Ahmed, and shared on its X handle, NAQS stated, "In order to ensure a thorough, transparent and accurate process, we are unable to release the list of shortlisted candidates as scheduled." The agency extended its apologies for any inconvenience caused by the delay and urged applicants and the public to remain patient.

The recruitment exercise, which opened on July 28 and closed on August 10, saw a significant number of applications. NAQS reported that 606,928 attempted applications were received, with 407,659 successfully submitted. However, 199,269 applications were incomplete by the deadline. The Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II cadre attracted the highest number of applications with 290,076, followed by Quarantine Assistant II with 117,177.

NAQS had previously planned to conduct a computer-based test and interviews on August 15, following the shortlist release. Candidates will now await new dates for these stages of the recruitment process, which covers Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Assistant cadres.
