Nigeria Democratic Congress Forms Reconciliation Committee for Post-Primary Disputes

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has established a National Reconciliation Committee to address internal disputes following its recent primaries. The seven-member panel, led by political economist Prof. Pat Utomi and co-chaired by Buba Galadima, is tasked with resolving grievances among aspirants and strengthening party unity ahead of the 2027 general election.

The committee is scheduled for inauguration today at the party's national secretariat in Abuja. It will immediately begin consultations with aspirants and party stakeholders. The NDC stated that the committee's formation is crucial for addressing all outstanding issues generated by the primary elections and for reinforcing party cohesion.

In addition to the national committee, three zonal reconciliation sub-committees have been formed for the North, South-south, and South-east geopolitical zones to support the national panel's efforts. Meanwhile, several candidates, whose names were recently published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), expressed gratitude to the party's National Leader and former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson. They credited him with stabilizing the party during the nomination process and transparently handling post-primary disagreements.
