Nigeria Immigration Service Plans Nationwide Housing for Personnel

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is reaffirming its dedication to ensuring nationwide housing for its staff, with plans to expand successful housing initiatives across the country. This commitment was highlighted during the recent official commissioning of the Nigeria Immigration Service Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited (NIMCOS) Housing Estate at Kutunku Extension, Gwagwalada Area Council.

The project, a collaboration with private developer Abiskoly Real Estate Developers, was presented as a tangible demonstration of the Service's focus on personnel welfare. Representing the Comptroller General, Deputy Comptroller General Dr. Franca Usiwoma Nwanneka stressed that adequate housing is crucial for staff welfare, providing security, stability, and enabling officers to perform their duties effectively. She commended NIMCOS for their foresight and Abiskoly for their professionalism and timely delivery.

NIMCOS President, Dr. Salihu Barau Dauda, described the event as a fulfillment of vision and a significant milestone. The newly commissioned estate features 150 modern two and three-bedroom bungalows designed for comfortable family living. Notably, the commissioning also included a second, larger 1,000-unit housing estate in Kuchiyako District, Kuje Area Council, also developed by Abiskoly. Dauda indicated that NIMCOS's housing vision extends beyond Abuja, with ongoing land acquisition programs and previous housing opportunities facilitated in other locations.
