Nigeria Relaunches Digital Switch Over Project Amidst Past Challenges

Nigeria has once again signaled its commitment to the Digital Switch Over (DSO) project, a crucial step towards aligning with global broadcasting standards set by the ITU. The announcement of a nationwide launch by June 17, 2026, coupled with the promise of 100 free channels, offers a glimmer of hope for a project that has been plagued by missed deadlines and unrealized potential. This relaunch, spearheaded by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, is presented as a significant development for the nation's media landscape.

However, the path to digital broadcasting in Nigeria has been fraught with difficulties.
