Nigeria's Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has highlighted the indispensable role of the media in countering terrorist ideology and bolstering the nation's fight against asymmetric warfare. Speaking in Abuja while receiving executives from the Defence Correspondents Association of Nigeria (DECAN), General Musa underscored the necessity of a robust military-media partnership to disseminate timely and accurate defense and security information.

The Minister stressed the military's need for media support during this period of asymmetric warfare. He assured DECAN members of his office's commitment to an open-door policy, fostering a cordial relationship to ensure the public receives accurate information. "We encourage defence correspondents to remain fair, balanced and professional in their reportage, as responsible journalism is vital to national security and public trust," he added.

DECAN President Mr. Odita Sunday congratulated General Musa on his appointment and announced that the association would confer on him the title of Grand Patron during its upcoming conference.
