Nigeria's National Sports Commission backs Taiwo Awoniyi's youth football league

Nigeria's National Sports Commission (NSC) has committed its full backing to the Kwara Kiddies League, a grassroots football initiative spearheaded by Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi. NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko lauded the project as crucial for cultivating the next generation of Nigerian football talent.

Dikko expressed the Commission's support during a courtesy visit from Awoniyi to the NSC headquarters in Abuja. The striker, accompanied by former Nigerian international Anthony Ujah, presented Dikko with a Nottingham Forest jersey and detailed his vision for the league. Awoniyi aims to broaden opportunities for young footballers through the Kwara Kiddies League and other youth-focused sports development programs.

"Partnerships between successful athletes and sports administrators are essential to discovering and developing future champions, particularly at the grassroots level where talent identification begins," Dikko stated. He assured Awoniyi of the Commission's readiness to provide necessary support and foster an enabling environment for the initiative's success.
