Nigeria's Olabisi Joseph elected ISF Africa president, first woman in role

Olabisi Joseph, President of the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF), has made history by being elected Continental President for Africa of the International School Sport Federation (ISF). The election took place during the 2024 ISF General Assembly in Belgrade, Serbia.

Joseph's victory is significant as she becomes the first African woman and the first woman in the ISF's history to achieve this continental leadership role. A total of 82 countries participated in the General Assembly, with 79 votes cast in the election. Her emergence is viewed as a testament to Nigeria's increasing impact on the development and administration of school sports across the African continent.

The NSSF, in a statement signed by its Secretary-General Ijeoma Olopade, congratulated Joseph on her achievement and pledged full support for her tenure. The federation expressed its commitment to advancing school sports for African children under her leadership.

Joseph has a history of breaking barriers in sports administration. She first made history in 2019 by becoming the first female president of the NSSF, an election she won unopposed. She was subsequently re-elected for a second term in 2024. Her new role at the ISF Africa signifies a broader influence on the international stage for school sports.
