Nigeria seeks oil and gas investment in China

Nigeria is actively pursuing international investment for its vital oil and gas sector, with a delegation set to visit China next month. The group will attend the China Dongying International Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment and Technology Exhibition (CDYPE 2026) from September 28 to 30 in Dongying.

Coordinated by Oraso Consulting Ltd, the Nigerian delegation includes regulators, state representatives, and indigenous oil and gas companies. Their objective is to present a portfolio of investment-ready projects, seeking access to crucial finance, technology, equipment, and strategic partnerships.

The exhibition is expected to attract over 500 exhibitors, including major Chinese energy firms like Sinopec, China National Petroleum Corporation, and China National Offshore Oil Corporation. A dedicated Nigeria-China country session will facilitate direct engagement between the Nigerian delegation and Chinese financiers, engineering firms, equipment manufacturers, and investors.

This initiative forms a key part of Nigeria's broader strategy to attract credible foreign investment into its petroleum industry. It also aims to connect local operators with international partners possessing the necessary capital, technology, and technical expertise to foster growth and development within the sector.
