Nigerian Army and Immigration Service Boost Border Security in Yobe

The Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) have vowed to bolster their joint efforts in securing Yobe State's borders. This commitment was solidified during a meeting between Brigadier General Edet Effiong, Commander of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, and the newly appointed Comptroller of the NIS Yobe State Command, Comptroller IZ Abubakar.

Effective information sharing, coordinated border surveillance and closer engagement with border communities are necessary to disrupt terrorism, human trafficking, smuggling and irregular migration.

Brigadier General Effiong underscored the critical need for ongoing cooperation among security agencies to maintain border integrity. He highlighted that effective information sharing, coordinated surveillance, and proactive engagement with border communities are essential to disrupt activities like terrorism, human trafficking, smuggling, and irregular migration. Effiong stressed that a robust security framework is vital to prevent criminal and terrorist elements from exploiting border vulnerabilities.

Operation HADIN KAI, Effiong assured, stands ready to support enhanced collaboration with the Immigration Service and other security stakeholders. He noted that improved coordination, professionalism, and the strategic use of technology would significantly boost border monitoring, operational effectiveness, and Nigeria's overall national security objectives. Engaging closely with border communities to identify threats and reinforce security measures was also a key point of emphasis.
