Nigerian Community Mourns Beloved Nurse Mary Habila, Recalling Her Compassion and Dedication

The community of Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State is mourning the loss of nurse Mary Habila, remembering her as a deeply compassionate, hardworking, and selfless professional. Habila, who was attached to the office of the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, passed away while residing in the staff quarters at the minister's official residence, where she was posted for duty.

Residents and colleagues have shared fond memories of Habila, highlighting her humility, calm demeanor, and consistent willingness to assist others. Her active participation in community activities endeared her to many, making her death a significant loss for the area. She was particularly noted for her dedication to providing medical support during community events.

One resident, Mrs. Millicent Ekwe, recalled Habila's immense trust after styling her hair, entrusting her with her ATM card and PIN for payment. This act of confidence forged a close relationship, and Ekwe remembers Habila for her kindness and warm personality. The President-General of Eweze Uburu Autonomous Community, Chief Nicholas Onu, noted that many residents initially assumed Habila was an indigene due to her consistent presence at events with the Minister of Works, where she often served as part of the medical team.

Chief Onu further praised Habila's commitment to service, particularly her care for women and children during empowerment programs and community gatherings. Her dedication and humility left a lasting impression, and her passing is considered a significant loss to the community.
