Nigerian hailed for stopping knife fight in UK

A Nigerian man, Hammed Danmole, is being hailed for his bravery after intervening in a dangerous knife fight between three teenagers in London's Burgess Park. The 45-year-old property investor put his life at risk to separate the youths, stating he could not bear the thought of a tragedy occurring.

The incident unfolded on Sunday, May 17, during Danmole's weekly Sunday league football match. He witnessed two hooded youths in black enter the park and confront another boy who arrived on a scooter. An argument escalated, leading two of the teenagers to allegedly pull out machetes. While other bystanders screamed or filmed the confrontation, Danmole rushed towards the scene.

After I did it, people said I shouldn’t have done that, and I should have left them.

Danmole, who is also a father to a 17-year-old boy, explained his motivation: "When I looked at them, I saw him. I would do anything to stop these young boys from killing each other." His decisive intervention successfully separated the teenagers involved in the violent altercation.

Following the incident, the teenagers were apprehended by police at the scene. They have since been charged with offenses including possession of a bladed article and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. Danmole's courageous actions have drawn widespread admiration, with many commending his willingness to step in during a critical moment.
