Nigerian man recounts alleged kidney sale deception by friend

A young Nigerian man, Samuel Ezekiel, has detailed a harrowing experience where he claims a friend deceived him into selling his kidney, only for the proceeds to be allegedly squandered on electronic gadgets. Ezekiel recounted how his friend, Emmanuel Odeh, manipulated him into undergoing the kidney removal procedure at Wellington Hospital in Abuja.

It’s my friend that deceived me. His name is Emmanuel Udeh.

Ezekiel stated that Odeh initially presented the hospital visit as a normal outing, and he complied with his friend's instructions due to trust. He further alleged that Odeh linked him with an agent named Ben, who facilitated medical tests. After initial tests indicated his kidney was not a match for the intended recipient, Ezekiel was informed that another recipient had been found.

According to Ezekiel, his identity was altered to 'Hassan Abubakar' before he was taken to the Federal High Court to prepare an affidavit. Subsequently, he was admitted to Wellington Hospital, where documents were signed before he underwent the surgery. He reported receiving payment in dollars late at night, around 10 or 11 p.m., before entering the operating theater.

He deceived me that we are going to for hospital because I don’t know what, because anything he told me, I will just, uh, do what he asked me to do.

Upon emerging from surgery, Ezekiel claims Odeh had already exchanged the dollars and purchased several electronic items, including two phones, two power banks, and two Wi-Fi devices. Odeh allegedly kept one set of devices and gave Ezekiel the other. The victim stated they remained hospitalized for about a week before being discharged, after which Odeh reportedly took him to a hotel for two days.

Then the Ben now said that they are going to change my name, that I will be bearing Hassan Abubakar.

Ezekiel's account emerged during the Nigeria Police Force's parade of suspects connected to an alleged organ-harvesting syndicate operating in Abuja and Nasarawa State. The police are investigating the syndicate's activities.

After they give us the money in dollar, then when I’m going to enter the theater, then I now give Emmanuel the money to hold it.
