Nigerian Military Pledges Affordable Housing for Personnel

The Nigerian military is reaffirming its dedication to ensuring affordable housing for its personnel, a commitment that aligns with broader efforts to bolster operations and enhance the welfare of the Armed Forces.

Major General Isaiah Allison, the newly appointed Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Defence Properties Limited (DPL), outlined this vision upon assuming office in Abuja. His mandate is to strengthen the company's operations and expand its real estate activities across Nigeria.

This initiative is framed within the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede's strategic philosophy. The philosophy emphasizes consolidating the Armed Forces' capacity through enhanced jointness for a robust operational posture, supported by improved welfare and sound administration. The ultimate goal is to safeguard Nigeria's sovereignty and prosperity.

Under Major General Allison's leadership, DPL is focusing on staff development and operational revitalization to generate resources for effective administration and improved personnel welfare. The company is also inspecting its facilities and fostering cooperation with sister companies within the Defence Holdings Company Limited, including Defence Farms/Agro-Allied Products Limited and Defence Engineering Services Limited, to identify areas of mutual interest and collaboration.
