Nigerian Navy Recovers 105,000 Liters of Suspected Stolen Crude in Delta

The Nigerian Navy has intensified its fight against crude oil theft in Delta State, successfully recovering 105,000 liters of suspected stolen crude oil. The operation, part of 'Operation Delta Sentinel,' also led to the discovery of hidden storage facilities used by oil thieves in the Oteghele area.

The operations form part of sustained efforts to disrupt crude oil theft networks, protect critical oil and gas assets, and prevent economic losses to the nation.

Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, Director of Naval Information, stated that the recovered products were found in two separate locations. He emphasized that these operations are crucial for disrupting oil theft networks, safeguarding vital oil and gas infrastructure, and mitigating significant economic losses for Nigeria.

Folorunsho highlighted the Navy's unwavering commitment to dismantling the infrastructure that supports illegal bunkering and crude oil theft across the Niger Delta. He asserted that the successes achieved under 'Operation Delta Sentinel' demonstrate a sustained effort to cripple criminal networks engaged in economic sabotage while protecting the nation's energy assets.

Despite these intensified enforcement efforts, illegal refining and crude oil theft remain persistent problems in the Niger Delta, contributing to environmental degradation and substantial revenue losses.
