Nigerian Soldiers Neutralize Two Terrorists, Arrest Eight Suspects in Kaduna, Zamfara Operations

Nigerian soldiers have stepped up their offensive against terrorists and bandits in the North-West region, achieving significant successes in operations conducted between June 27 and 28, 2026. The Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, reported the neutralization of two suspected terrorists and the arrest of eight collaborators during coordinated patrols across Kaduna and Zamfara states.

In Kaduna State, troops engaged terrorists transporting kidnapped victims in Giwa and Kaduna North Local Government Areas. The ensuing firefight led to the abandonment of two motorcycles and the rescue of one kidnap victim. Tragically, another victim had already been killed by the terrorists. In a separate incident in Giwa, troops responded to an attack on Dariya Village where one civilian was killed and three injured before security forces arrived. During the pursuit of fleeing terrorists, two were neutralized and their belongings, including ammunition and charms, were recovered.

The operation also extended to Zamfara State, where troops arrested two individuals suspected of providing medical support to terrorist groups in Magami, Gusau Local Government Area. In Kaduna State's Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, six suspects were apprehended near Polewire Village after encountering fleeing terrorists. Furthermore, in Chikun Local Government Area, troops successfully recovered 110 rustled cattle after ambushing suspected rustlers, subsequently returning the livestock to their rightful owners.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, reaffirmed the commitment to combating insecurity. These operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace and security to the region, demonstrating a sustained pressure on criminal elements.
