Nigerian Traders Seek Chinese Visa Support to Boost Trade

The Made-in-China Goods Traders Association of Nigeria has voiced a clear appeal to the Chinese Consulate General in Lagos, Madam Yan Yuqing, highlighting a desire for enhanced support and greater trade opportunities. For over a decade, this association has been instrumental in fostering the promotion of Chinese goods and deepening the economic ties between Nigeria and China. Their members have consistently engaged in legitimate business activities, contributing significantly to the commercial relationship between the two nations.

Over the years, our members have remained committed to supporting legitimate business activities and encouraging positive economic cooperation between both countries.

However, the association's leadership, spearheaded by National President Adigun Samuel, expressed a sentiment of unmet expectations. Despite their long-standing commitment and contributions, they feel they have not received the desired level of recognition and support from the Chinese Consulate. This perceived lack of attention has, according to Samuel, limited their ability to fully realize their objectives and effectively serve their members.

The core of their request centers on practical facilitation: easier access to visas for both new and returning traders. This is particularly crucial for participation in major trade events like the Canton Fair, a globally significant exhibition. The association believes that increased inclusiveness and visa support will not only help their members gain broader exposure and strengthen business networks but also ensure they act as responsible ambassadors for Nigeria while adhering to Chinese laws and regulations.

Despite our long-standing existence and contributions, we are yet to receive the desired attention and recognition from the Consulate. This has limited our ability to fully achieve the purpose of our establishment and effectively support our members.
