Nigerian troops arrest suspect, rescue victim in raid on kidnap syndicate

Nigerian Army troops have successfully rescued a kidnap victim and apprehended a suspect during an operation targeting a criminal syndicate in Imo State, southeastern Nigeria. The raid, conducted on July 17 by troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade, also led to the recovery of ransom proceeds and a vehicle allegedly used in the abduction.

Olabisi Ayeni, spokesperson for the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, announced the operation's success. During the search of the syndicate's hideout in Obinwanne Umuaka, Njaba Local Government Area, security forces discovered a bag containing N298,200 in cash, believed to be part of the ransom payment, along with mobile phones and identity documents. A black Lexus saloon car, suspected to have been used in the kidnapping, was also seized.
