Nigerian troops foil advance by terrorists riding about 200 motorcycles - Official

Nigerian troops have successfully thwarted a significant terrorist movement towards Niger State, intercepting a large group of militants. The operation, part of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, saw soldiers engage terrorists riding approximately 200 motorcycles near Inana Village in the Rijau Local Government Area.

During the engagement in Majai and Tungan Bisallah villages, the troops forced the terrorists to retreat. They recovered one AK-47 rifle and 398 rounds of ammunition, including 7.62 x 51mm NATO and 7.62mm special rounds. The troops also destroyed six motorcycles and one was recovered. One soldier sustained injuries during the operation.

In a separate operation in Borno State, troops from the 27 Task Force Brigade, alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force, eliminated a suspected ISWAP logistics courier and informant in Dallaballe Village. This action followed human intelligence regarding the informant's activities.

Further operations across the country yielded more successes. In Taraba State, troops recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from the residence of a suspected gunrunner in Wukari Local Government Area. Additionally, in Abia State, troops raided a transport company in Aba South Local Government Area, arresting five suspects and seizing a luxury bus suspected of being used for the movement of military camouflage and other accoutrements.
