Nigerian woman welcomes quadruplets at 50 after marrying at 48

Olushola Olonade, a 50-year-old Nigerian woman, shared her joyous testimony of welcoming quadruplets after a long wait for marriage and children. She gave birth to two boys and two girls on March 6, 2026, just three weeks before her 50th birthday on March 31.

I got married on December 12, 2023, after a long wait. I have always said I do not want to wait twice. I waited for my husband. I do not want to wait for children. I took in last year.

Olonade recounted her journey during a church service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Solid Rock Parish, in Lagos. She married on December 12, 2023, at the age of 48, describing it as a "long wait for a husband." Determined not to delay motherhood further, she prayed for children soon after her wedding.

When we went for the first scan, the doctor said he was seeing twins. I told my husband that even if it is one, they will stop calling me Mummy Shola. We went for a second scan, and it was another doctor. He said he was seeing three. We went back again, and the doctor asked how many he had told me before. I said three. Before then, I had a crisis. He said, ‘I think I am seeing four.’ I said four. So, I told my husband that I was not coming back home.

Her pregnancy brought surprising developments. Initial medical scans suggested she was expecting twins. This was later revised to triplets, and finally, doctors confirmed she was carrying quadruplets. Olonade described her reaction to the final diagnosis: "I said four. So, I told my husband that I was not coming back home."

The beauty of the testimony is that I had them three weeks before my 50th. I clocked 50 on March 31, 2026. We have a lot of twins in my family.

She noted that multiple births are common in her family, with several relatives, including her aunt, expressing astonishment at the arrival of the four babies. Olonade expressed profound gratitude to God for her life and the safe delivery of her children, emphasizing the blessing of her family's history of multiple births.
