NIMASA, Hydrographic Agency Advance Maritime Safety, Explore Local Solutions

In a significant move to bolster maritime safety and security, Nigeria's key maritime agencies, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the National Hydrographic Agency, are forging a stronger partnership. This collaboration centers on promoting the utilization of indigenous nautical charts and hydrographic communication tools, a crucial step towards enhancing navigational safety and the effective management of Nigeria's vast maritime domain.

The working visit by the Hydrographer of the Nation, Rear Admiral Olumide Fadahunsi, to NIMASA's management underscored the critical role of hydrography in national development. Rear Admiral Fadahunsi emphasized that increased reliance on locally generated hydrographic information would directly translate to improved maritime security and safer navigation. This initiative aligns with Nigeria's broader goals of strengthening its maritime sector, a vital contributor to the nation's economy.
