NIMASA reiterates commitment to globally competitive maritime administration

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has renewed its commitment to developing a maritime administration that is both efficient and globally competitive. This vision is being pursued through continuous reforms and a strengthened partnership with stakeholders.

Dr. Dayo Mobereola, the Director-General of NIMASA, conveyed this assurance during a visit from the leadership of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria Alumni Association (AMANO) to the agency's headquarters in Lagos. Mobereola emphasized that NIMASA's strategy includes reinforcing regulatory oversight, promoting innovation, and creating more avenues for Nigerian seafarers, aligning with the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy's policy direction.

He described the maritime sector as a key driver of Nigeria’s economic growth and identified industry associations such as AMANO as critical partners in developing policies that would unlock the sector’s full potential.

Mobereola highlighted the maritime sector's crucial role in driving Nigeria's economic growth. He recognized industry associations like AMANO as vital partners in formulating policies that can fully unlock the sector's potential. Earlier, AMANO President Emmanuel Maiguwa praised NIMASA's implementation of an electronic platform for issuing Seafarers' Certificates, noting it as a significant advancement in improving efficiency, transparency, and accessibility within the sector.
