Nine die in crash on Bida-Kutigi-Mokwa road

A tragic road accident on the Bida-Kutigi-Mokwa road in Niger State, Nigeria, has claimed the lives of at least nine people. The crash occurred in the early hours of Sunday between the communities of Lanle and Shaba Woro.

Eyewitnesses reported that the collision involved a Mazda vehicle traveling from Minna towards Mokwa and a Sienna vehicle reportedly heading from Lagos to Minna. The two vehicles are said to have crashed head-on after the Mazda entered a blind corner.

An eyewitness at the scene described seeing nine bodies, with several other victims sustaining various injuries. Emergency responders transported the injured to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. As of the time of reporting, official confirmation of the number of casualties and the exact circumstances surrounding the crash from the police or the Federal Road Safety Corps was still pending.

Residents have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the route, particularly on bends and dangerous road sections. They also advised drivers undertaking long journeys to ensure adequate rest to help prevent similar avoidable accidents and loss of life on the highway.
