Nineteen documentaries selected for Mediteran Film Festival competition

Široki Brijeg will again become a meeting place for documentary filmmakers and audiences when the 27th Mediteran Film Festival runs from Sept. 23 to 26. The official competition will present 19 films, including nine feature-length documentaries and 10 shorts.

The selected films move between intimate personal stories and broad historical and social subjects. Their themes include people searching for a path, places that are disappearing, memories that endure, borders that divide and relationships that reconnect people. Several films revisit major historical figures and events through personal perspectives.

The feature competition includes films from countries including Spain, Montenegro, North Macedonia, the United States, Switzerland, Israel, Palestine, Croatia, Serbia, Lebanon, Germany, Qatar, Iran, France, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Slovenia and Ireland. The short-film selection includes works from Germany, Italy, Chile, Spain, Palestine, Greece, Croatia, France, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary and the Netherlands.

Two international three-member juries will decide the main awards. The best feature will receive the Grand Prix, while the best short will win Best Short. Festival audiences will choose the Audience Award, and members of the Association of Cinematographers in Bosnia and Herzegovina will present the Best Camera award.
