Nnadi opts against surgery for speedy return

Tochukwu Nnadi has chosen to avoid immediate knee surgery, hoping conservative treatment will bring him back to Marseille more quickly.

The Nigeria international suffered the injury shortly after entering as a second-half substitute during Marseille’s match against Monaco. Neal Maupay replaced him, and Nnadi underwent medical assessment after leaving the stadium. Doctors reportedly recommended immediate surgery.

After several days of discussions with doctors, the club and Nnadi’s entourage, the midfielder decided on a different approach. His agent, Timur Daguev, said surgery would have been the safest option but would also have kept Nnadi away from the team for several months.

Daguev said Nnadi wanted to remain involved with his teammates despite the setback. “He cannot abandon the club at a time like this. Nnadi will now follow a recovery programme while hoping to return to full fitness without a lengthy absence.
