No winner in 295th Zurich derby as Grasshoppers score late equalizer

The 295th Zurich derby ended without a winner, but the Grasshoppers snatched a point with the last attacking move of the match. In the 96th minute, Samuel Krasniqi sent a free kick toward the far post, where Bujar Pllana headed in his first Super League goal to make it 2-2.

Grasshoppers had been the more wasteful side before halftime. They should have led at the break, but FC Zurich opened the scoring in the 54th minute through Kevin Spadanuda. Krasniqi equalized less than five minutes later, yet Grasshoppers again failed to turn their chances into a lead.

Giotto Morandi, returning to the team, struck the post with a penalty in the 65th minute. FC Zurich regained the advantage in the 80th minute when Umeh Emmanuel scored with a fine shot, his third goal of the season.

Emmanuel's goal did not bring FC Zurich a 11th win in its last 14 Zurich derbies. In the closing seconds, Krasniqi broke clear against Doron Lichtenstein and was brought down, setting up the free kick that produced Pllana's late equalizer.
