Noel León claims fifth Formula 2 podium and makes history at Monza

Noel León produced another standout performance in his debut Formula 2 season by taking third place at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.

The Mexican driver for Campos Racing started seventh, then moved through the field with the help of his team’s strategy and his own driving. Paraguay’s Joshua Dürksen won the race, with Brazil’s Rafael Câmara second, giving the podium an entirely Latin American lineup.

It was quite a good race, to be honest. We managed to do everything right and recover some positions.

Dürksen completed a memorable weekend with victories in both the sprint and feature races. The Invicta drivers finished first and second, while León added his fifth podium of the season.

These guys were a little too fast for me today. I tried to stay with them until the end, but they were quite fast in the final laps.

The result gives León 114 points and keeps him fifth in the drivers’ championship. His teammate Nicolas Tsolov leads with 177 points.

“It was quite a good race, to be honest,” León said after the finish. “We managed to do everything right and recover some positions.” He said a qualifying penalty had dropped him to seventh and that the podium was the best possible result. León added that the leading drivers had been too fast in the final laps, but said he was very happy with Campos Racing and the team’s work throughout the weekend. His next stop will be Madrid, which is making its debut across all categories.
