The film's impressive run has been bolstered by its recent opening in China, with Japan set to follow in September. These major markets are expected to propel "Oppenheimer" towards Universal Pictures' all-time highest-grossing film record, currently held by "Jurassic World" at $1.671 billion. The film is already a record-breaker in its own right, being the first to be shot entirely on IMAX film and becoming the highest-grossing IMAX film in history. It also stands as the second highest-grossing R-rated film globally, with only $1.338 billion from "Deadpool & Wolverine" ahead of it.
