Nollywood stars, family, friends bid farewell to veteran actor Ogogo

Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, was laid to rest in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday. The funeral ceremony was attended by a gathering of Nollywood stars, family members, friends, and other mourners, marking a final farewell to the respected actor.

Hassan, who passed away at the age of 66, had been battling advanced cancer. Days before his death, his daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, had publicly appealed for urgent medical assistance, revealing that doctors had informed them chemotherapy was no longer a viable option due to the progression of his illness. The family had been seeking specialized medical care to review his condition.

Prominent figures from the Nigerian film industry were present to pay their respects. Among them were veteran actors Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko, alongside Faithia Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Mr Latin, and Toyosi Adesanya. Yinka Quadri, who shared a long-standing relationship with Hassan, expressed his grief and emotion during the burial ceremony, mourning the loss of his colleague and friend.

Actress Toyosi Adesanya, one of Ogogo's protégés, remembered him as a man of integrity and simplicity, reflecting on the 10 years she spent training under his guidance. The event served as a somber occasion for the Nigerian entertainment community to honor the memory and contributions of Taiwo Hassan.
