Nomad Games Draw 3,000 Athletes and More Than 600 Cultural Events

Kyrgyzstan has concluded its sixth World Nomad Games, a program that brought together more than 3,000 athletes and more than 600 cultural events, the Culture, Information and Youth Policy Ministry said.

The cultural program included international festivals, concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions, master classes, improvisational contests, creative competitions and ethnocultural projects. One of the main venues was the Kyrchyn gorge, where the World of Nomads ethnovillage presented regional culture, traditional crafts, cuisine, music and arts from across Kyrgyzstan.

Representatives from 38 countries attended the Nomad Legacy international festival at the Ruh Ordo cultural complex. Other events included the Echo of Nomads and NOMAD FEST festivals, as well as the Art Lab creative laboratory. Guests included musician Leo Rojas, the AY YOLA group, athletes Valentina Shevchenko and Dmitry Bivol, and actors Bai Ling and Don “The Dragon” Wilson.

The games opened on Aug. 31 at Bishkek Arena with a parade of delegations from participating countries. Organizers said athletes from 104 countries took part. Nearly 2,000 local media representatives received accreditation, while about 250 journalists traveled to Kyrgyzstan from abroad.
