Norris wins Dutch Grand Prix as Verstappen crashes out on lap one

Lando Norris claimed a dramatic victory at the Dutch Grand Prix, capitalizing on a first-lap crash that ended home favorite Max Verstappen's race. The McLaren driver held off a strong challenge from Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli to secure his second win in a row.

Verstappen, starting seventh, lost control of his Red Bull on a damp patch of the Zandvoort circuit and crashed into the barriers, bringing out the red flags. The incident was a devastating blow to the thousands of local fans who had come to see Verstappen, the four-time defending champion at this event, race.

After the restart, Antonelli initially took the lead, but Norris, on fresher tires after a later pit stop, made a decisive move to take first place with about 15 laps remaining. The race concluded under a virtual safety car, with Norris crossing the line 11.536 seconds ahead of Antonelli.

"It was a tough race. Probably one of my best wins – I had to fight hard for it," Norris said after the race. George Russell finished third, with Charles Leclerc fifth and Oscar Piastri sixth. Despite finishing second, Antonelli significantly increased his championship lead over his rivals.
