Norte de Santander offers 100 million pesos for information after attack on security forces in Ocaña

Two soldiers were killed and five wounded in an attack near Infantry Battalion No. 15 General Francisco de Paula Santander in Ocaña, prompting Norte de Santander authorities to offer a reward of up to 100 million pesos.

The departmental government condemned the violence and appealed to residents for information that could help identify those responsible and clarify what happened. It said the attack took place during the night of Friday, September 4, and expressed solidarity with members of the security forces affected by the incident.

Díaz Mateus repeated the offer of a reward for information leading to the suspects and helping investigators establish the circumstances of the attack. The government also reiterated its rejection of the disruption of public order around the battalion and urged citizens to provide any useful information to the authorities.

President Abelardo De la Espriella also addressed the attack, offering condolences to the families of the two soldiers killed and wishing the wounded a speedy recovery. “To the families of our two fallen heroes, my full solidarity, my prayers and Colombia's gratitude.
