Pyongyang specifically criticized the Ulchi Freedom Shield (UFS) exercises, which are scheduled to commence the following Monday. The North Korean statement framed these adaptations as evidence that the exercises, described by Seoul and Washington as "annual" and "defensive," are in fact a rehearsal for an "act of aggression."

The North Korean Foreign Ministry further denounced the ten-day maneuvers, asserting they are taking place within a context of heightened military and political instability globally, citing tensions in Europe and the Middle East. The ministry claimed that the drills exacerbate regional instability.
