North Korean Foreign Minister: Pyongyang Will Continue Supporting Moscow's 'Sacred Struggle'

North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui declared in Moscow that Pyongyang will continue to back Russia's "sacred struggle" for sovereignty and territorial integrity. She described Russia's "special military operation" as a holy war aimed at addressing the root causes of the Ukraine crisis and defending Russia's national interests.

Our position does not change: Russia's special military operation is a holy war to address the root causes of the crisis in Ukraine, as well as to defend the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Choe stated that North Korea's position remains unchanged, emphasizing its commitment to actively support Russia's international political standing as a strategic partner and ally. She met with her Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, and also held discussions with President Vladimir Putin, underscoring the strengthening relationship between the two nations under their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership agreement.

"As our countries strengthen our alliance relations, exchanges of delegations and contacts in various fields such as economy, science, education, healthcare, and sports are intensifying," Choe noted. Lavrov, in turn, expressed gratitude for North Korea's alleged assistance to Russian troops in expelling Ukrainian forces from the Kursk region over a year ago.

Putin also met with Choe, valuing the bilateral relations and reiterating his thanks for North Korean military assistance. He conveyed warm greetings to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, with whom he shares a deep mutual understanding and friendship, noting that bilateral cooperation is developing across all sectors. Reports suggest North Korea has supplied Russia with ballistic missiles, combat vehicles, and artillery shells, while Russia has reportedly provided air defense systems, electronic warfare technology, and refined oil to Pyongyang.
