Northern Germany faces rain and thunderstorms next week, with one exception

A brief late-summer spell will offer northern Germany a break from otherwise wet autumn weather next week. The German Weather Service said Sunday should end the weekend on a mostly pleasant note, with dry conditions, a mix of cloud and sunshine, and temperatures around 20 degrees.

Coastal areas of Schleswig-Holstein will face moderate to fresh winds, while Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania could see stronger gusts. Overnight lows may fall to 8 degrees.

Monday will turn summerlike again. Temperatures in Hamburg will rise above 25 degrees, while Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania can expect between 21 and 26 degrees. Sunshine and clouds will alternate, although showers may appear toward evening.

Rain will return across the region on Tuesday, with occasional thunderstorms in Schleswig-Holstein and windy conditions along the northern coast. Temperatures will remain mild at 19 to 23 degrees. Wednesday will stay unsettled and wet, with highs falling by one to two degrees and some coastal winds in Schleswig-Holstein reaching gale-force gusts.
