Northern senators mourn former Senator Bello Mandiya

Nigeria’s Northern Senators Forum has mourned the death of former Senator Bello Mandiya, describing him as a public servant whose work would remain part of the political history of Katsina State and the Ninth Senate.

Mandiya represented Katsina South in the Ninth Senate and died at the age of 62. The condolence statement was signed by Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, chairman of the Northern Senators Forum and senator for Katsina Central.

The forum said Mandiya served as chief of staff to former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari before entering the Senate in 2019. It described his years in Katsina politics as marked by loyalty, political maturity, patience and commitment to public service.

The Northern Senators Forum has received with profound sadness the news of the passing of Distinguished Senator Bello Mandiya, former Senator representing Katsina South Senatorial District in the Ninth National Assembly, who died at the age of 62.

As a senator, Mandiya was remembered as a diligent and responsible legislator, a dependable colleague and a bridge-builder who promoted cooperation among senators. The forum said he supported policies aimed at national development and believed political office should improve people’s lives.

The senators extended condolences to Mandiya’s immediate family, the government and people of Katsina State, the people of Katsina South, his political associates and former National Assembly colleagues. They also prayed that Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

Senator Mandiya lived a life devoted to public service, and his passing has deprived Nigeria of a committed administrator and legislator whose contributions will remain part of the political history of Katsina State and the Ninth Senate.
